Description
WHAT IS DORIS?
DORIS contains Ethinyl Estradiol and Drospirenone
It works by causing changes in the cervical and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and harder for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus
WHAT DORIS IS USED FOR?
DORIS is used by women to prevent pregnancy
This medicine is also used to treat the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) such as anxiety, depression, irritability, sleep or appetite changes, breast tenderness, headache and weight gain
WARNING & PRECAUTION:
TALK TO DOCTOR
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
Are allergic to Ethinyl Estradiol and Drospirenone or to any other ingredients of this medicine
Have thromboembolic disorders and other vascular problems
Are above 35 years of age
Are obese
Have risk of strokes and heart attack
Have an upcoming sugery
Have hyperkalemia (high level of potassium in the blood)
Have cancer of the breasts and reproductive organs
Have liver, gall bladder, kidney or adrenal disease
Have high blood pressure
Have headache
Have carbohydrate and lipid metabolism defects
Have unscheduled bleeding and spotting
Have depression
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
DORIS should be used 4 weeks after delivery, in women who are not breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS
Not recommended for use in children and adolescents
INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines such as,
Thyroid hormone replacement therapy
Ascorbic acid
Paracetamol used for fever and pain
Itraconazole used for fungal infections
Medicines used to treat HIV infections
Potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone and others)
Potassium supplementation
Captopril, ramipril, telmisartan used to treat blood pressure
Heparin used to treat blood clots
Aldosterone antagonists
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
Always take DORIS exactly as your doctor has told you
Take one pill every day at the same time in the order directed on the package
Take the pill after the evening meal or at bedtime with some water, as needed
If you take more DORIS
If you take more DORIS, Contact your doctor immediately
If You forget to take DORIS
Take it as soon as you remember or take the next pill at your regular time
If you stop taking DORIS
Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor
SIDE EFFECTS OF DORIS:
SERIOUS
• Breast cancer, breast lumps
• Cancer of the uterus
• Stroke, blood clots
• Dementia
• Gallbladder disease
• Ovarian cancer
• Unusual vaginal bleeding
• Dizziness and faintness, changes in speech, severe headaches
• Chest pain, shortness of breath
• Pains in your legs
• Changes in vision
• Vomiting
COMMON
• Headache
• Pain in the breast
• Irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting
• Stomach/abdominal cramps, bloating
• Nausea and vomiting
• Hair loss
UNCOMMON
• Acne
• Less sexual desire
• Bloating or fluid retention
• Darkening of the skin, especially on the face
• High blood sugar, especially in women who already have diabetes
• High cholesterol levels in the blood
• Depression
• Change in weight
STORAGE:
Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
