Description
INTRODUCTION
A CN is a combination of Clindamycin and Nicotinamide which belongs to a group of medicines called Lincomycin antibiotics and Vitamin B3 complex, respectively. A CN is used to treat mild to moderate acne which is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells which may occur due to variety of causes such as genetics, fluctuating hormone levels, stress, high humidity or using oily or greasy personal care products which may affect people of all ages. It is characterized by symptoms such as open or closed plugged pores, small red & tender bumps, pimples, large, solid, or painful lumps under the skin, and painful & pus-filled lumps under the skin.
Clindamycin is a lincomycin antibiotic that reduces free fatty acid concentrations on the skin and suppresses the growth of Propionibacterium acnes (Corynebacterium acnes), a bacteria found in sebaceous glands and follicles. Nicotinamide is a vitamin of B3 complex that exerts anti-inflammatory effect in acne and interrupts sebum production.
Avoid applying A CN, if you are allergic to Clindamycin or Nicotinamide, and or have a history of regional enteritis (inflamed gastrointestinal tract), ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel disease), antibiotic associated colitis (inflammation of large intestine), liver or renal impairment. Before applying A CN, inform your doctor if you have eczema (skin inflammation), or asthma.
A CN is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in breastfeeding women, which is also not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 12 years). Consult your doctor before applying A CN. The most common symptoms of using A CN are skin inflammation, contact dermatitis (red, itchy rash), inflammation of hair follicles, itchy skin, dry skin, peeling of skin and skin redness. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen.
